History & Milestone
It was in 1928 that W. R. Talwalker Brothers Pvt. Ltd. (WRT) association with Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. (KBL) began when Mr. Ramkrishna Talwalker, father of Mr. Wasudev Talwalker, bought the first Iron Plough made by KBL for his farm in Astha near Kirloskarvadi.
In a time when superstitions dictated rural life and using iron to till land was taboo, this act was seen as revolutionary. This decision laid the foundation of what would become a long-standing relationship between WRT and Kirloskar.
Years later, Mr. Wasudev, having settled in Mumbai, met Mr. Laxmanrao Kirloskar. Upon learning Mr. Wasudev was Ramkrishna’s son, Mr. Laxmanrao said, “And you are my agent,” thus appointing him on the spot and beginning the WRT business legacy.
As Kirloskar Group expanded, its sister companies—Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd. (KOEL) and Kirloskar Electric Company (KEC)—appointed WRT as authorized dealers from inception. Mr. Wasudev also became one of the founding members of KOEL.
